TGD L 2008 – 1.2.4.3 – ThERMAL BRIDGInG

1.2.4.3 Care should be taken to control the risk of thermal bridging at the edges of floors. All slabonground floors should be provided with edge insulation to the vertical edge of the slab at all external and internal walls. The insulation should have minimum thermal resistance of 0.7 m2K/W (25 mm of insulation with thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/mK, or equivalent). Some large floors may have an acceptable average U value without the need for added insulation. However, perimeter insulation should always be provided. Perimeter insulation should extend at least 0.5 m vertically or 1 m horizontally. Where the perimeter insulation is placed horizontally, insulation to the vertical edge of the slab should also be provided as indicated above.
